I blame Kendra. And Alice. And, well, my procrastination skills which are legendary.
It's been a weird week on the blog, hasn't it? Blogs about cleaning and job concerns, blogs about quirks and conflict. I don't know about you, but I've been needing a good laugh. My DH has been gone all week, I've been home with the kids, it's been hot and I haven't made nearly as much progress on the wip as I should have made. So last night when I should have been coming up with a deep and profound blog post for today to follow Genene's great one on joy, I was cruising youtube, searching for something to make me smile. Most of what I found was so totally funny...but so completely inappropriate for this blog. However, there were a few kernels of good stuff. And most of it made me chuckle at the differences between men and women. Like...
Why we romance writers don't write about REAL men:
How men screw up romance:
And what men really hear when they listen to music on the radio:
(My DH is famous for the above.)
And finally, since I'm on the topic of men...this is one of my favorite songs that illustrates the differences between men and women. There's no video with this (the video for this song was taped in concert and it's not as good as the recorded song), so just listen to the words:
Any funny videos to share about men or women or romance or what we write about in general? Or how about some thoughts on the above...love 'em, hate 'em, did you get at least a laugh out of one of them?

Eli, you definitely got a laugh from me. I'll never again listen to Joe Cocker sing that song without bread and butts and Fred Flintstone coming to mind. I can't even remember the real words to the song now. But I guess it doesn't matter, does it? LOL!
No other funny videos come to mind right now, but I appreciated the laugh!
Eli -- I am up at 5:15 a.m. to write so I am NOT going to give into the temptation to go looking for more videos. Seems to me you covered the bases perfectly, anyway!
I love the comic -- it's so true. Have to wonder if he really can't see why a woman might enjoy the company of a romanticized man in a book to the enduring image he painted of the guy on the sofa, but that's a man for you. I was wondering about rewriting one line. The potato ship crumbs on his shirt. I was expecting belly and still wonder if it might have been a better choice. It's a funnier word and if her was laying down while munching -- okay, okay. Stop rolling your eyes.
The Joe Crocker song is just a hoot!!!! I have long wondered about some of the lyrics -- I appreciated the visual clues as to what he was saying.... my favorite is hoggify. Is that what he said? I love the little pig.
And the country western song is great. I love the back rub is just a back rub thing. Sure it is. Men ALWAYS go there.
Now, the other day when Wavy did a fun blog, you scolded her to go back to work. Ahem....
Thanks for the early a.m. gigglefest.
LOL, Alice, about the backrub. I was looking for silly t-shirt saying the other day (Yes, another procrastination technique, but I actually needed a funny t-shirt saying for the wip and nothing clever was coming to mind), and found an infant tee that said, "All Mommy Wanted Was A Backrub." I still chuckle when I think about that one.
Glad you liked the videos! And yeah, belly would be better...esp. crumbs rolling off the big beer belly. Don't you see this guy with a big ol' gut?
And I like hoggify, too. LOLOLOL
Genene, Kendra gets kudos for the Joe Cocker video. She sent it to me about a week ago and I laughed so hard my kids were wondering if I was having a seizure. I made the DH watch it because he makes up words to songs all the time - even when I tell him the correct words he prefers his own clever creations. :)
Glad you got a good laugh. :)
What a crack up, Eli! I sometimes go to the videos on Stumble Upon, choose a category, then sit back a watch what pops up. OMG! The funny ones with cats are my favorites, but the Bizarre category is pretty good, too. But it can be addictive. Once you start, it's like "One more. Just one more and I'll quite." Uh, no, you won't.
I have some favorite writing related videos by genius YA author and blogger, Jackson Pearce. I'm going to try to post them here, but if it doesn't work, visit www.jacksonpearce.com and look for them there.
What Elisabeth didn't say is that we spent two hours watching youtube last night and IM-ing, "You gotta watch this!!" "Did you see this?" Not very productive.
I was dying as I watched Chris Rock, but we agreed he wasn't appropriate for the blog. But if you're curious search youtube for Chris Rock, Jacksons, Kobe Bryant. Not appropriate for children. But you knew that as soon as I said Chris Rock, right?
Note: I deleted my blog post with Jackson Pearce's fun videos that I posted yesterday because when I tried to play them this morning, I got a "This video is no longer available" message. 8^( I guess it's set up not to be shared? ::shrug:: I thought it was great viral marketing. Oh, well. You can still view them and others on youtube if you search under Jackson Pearce.
Great Silliness , Eli!
I love Brad Paisley!!! His songs are so right on!
Thanks for mentioning me commenters :)
I don't know why they were throwing you a "no longer available" error! I hope it's fixed now.
